This is your first step to a fabulous career in the floral world. Upon successful course completion, you will receive your Basic Floral Design Certificate. Students who complete Basic Course, Essential Course and Designer's Course are awarded the title “Certified Floral Designer(CFD)” by American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD), and qualified to apply to the Professional Floral Designer Evaluation (PFDE), the final step to become a member of AIFD.

Our Basic Course is 'once a week class for 8 weeks' program, which prepares students for entry-level floral design positions. Students who complete a 8-week program and pass both a written and a design examination will receive the Washington Flower School Basic Floral Design Certificate.

As you progress through your lessons, you will learn the skills and develop the proficiency necessary for a career in the floral world. You will be amazed at how quickly you master the art of floral design. Our proven teaching methods will have you ready to step into a job upon completion of the program. You will learn and understand the elements and principles, forms, styles and techniques of floral design. You will also learn all about the most common flower varieties, the latest techniques for the care and handling of flowers. Each day is packed full with fabulous information that you will utilize throughout your career as a professional floral designer.

It may sound so serious and complicated. But don't worry, we make it fun and easy! Each day, everything you need will be in the Loft of Rolling Ridge Floral Design. You need to arrive ready to learn. We take care of everything else.

The Washington Flower School teaching staff is always available in the classroom, by phone or e-mail to answer your questions. Even after you graduate and go home, you are never alone. If you didn't pass the test, you can come to the class room during the club hours(shown on our calendar) and keep practice your skills for free until you pass. Bring your own materials and study and practice by yourself. The class room is open for you.

Are you planning to open your own floral business? If so, we recommend that you plan to complete Essential Basic Courses and Designer's Course as well as the Business Course. You may also wish to add several Career Enhancement Advanced Seminars to expand your professional education.
