Certificate Courses
Washington Flower School offers Certificate Courses for those who are considering a career as a florist and those wanting a comprehensive overview of floral design. As a student, you'll receive hands-on instruction from designers with years of experience that have vast knowledge of design proven by their accomplishments and awards from winning design competitions to operating a successful flower shop. With our small class sizes, you'll receive individual attention as needed so you can hone skills are necessary for a career as a floral designer.
Fall 2026 Basic Course
In-Person/ Hands-on / Certification
Date: Four consecutive Mondays: September 21 & 28, 2026 and October 5 & 12, 2026 - 5:00pm-7:00pm

Certified Floral Designer (CFD)
Certification Program
Washington Flower School is an Education Partner with the American Institute of Floral Designers (AIFD). As such, we are able to recommend students that have completed our educational program and have passed all requirements to be submitted to AIFD as candidates to earn their CFD certification. The following courses are required to be considered as candidates submitted for their CFD online final exam. Each of these courses is comprehensive; students will receive a Certificate of Completion following each of the classes.
Basic Floral Design (In-Person at Park Florist, Tacoma Park, MD)
Exploring the Elements and Principles of Design (live via Zoom)
Advanced Floral Design (In-Person at Park Florist, Tacoma Park, MD)
Applied Floral Design Lab (Hybrid, Live via Zoom and In-Person at Park Florist, Tacoma Park, MD)
